Catalog description

This course focuses on advancing understanding of evidence-based practice (EBP), including the steps, methods, and foundational components of DNP project development. The course provides students with an in-depth understanding of how to locate, critically appraise, and interpret research findings to promote evidence-based practice change. Students will develop a literature search question that answers or addresses a problem at their practice and/or project site. Students will gather peer-reviewed scientific articles, use appraisal tools to assess the strength and quality of the evidence, and consider project and practice implications. This course provides students with practical tools that can be used beyond the classroom, empowering students to initiate their DNP project work in clinical settings. Through coursework and assignments, students will develop and conduct a literature search, gather and sort evidence, interpret research findings, evaluate the quality and strength of existing evidence, synthesize the evidence, and discuss how the evidence will be applied and utilized to guide clinical practice improvements and DNP project design.
