Catalog description

Midwifery practice encompasses the independent provision of care during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period as well as care for the healthy newborn during the first 28 days of life with a special focus on health inequities and the impact of structural racism. Students in this course learn to apply the Midwifery Model of Care to address care of the birthing person, family, and newborn in the intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn periods.
