Principles of Population Health: Advancing Equitable Outcomes

Catalog description
This course is focused on population health across the healthcare delivery continuum. A population-based approach to the collection, analysis, and interpretation of health data will be emphasized. Case examples focused on public health prevention, disease management of populations, emergency preparedness, and workforce health & well-being will be used to illustrate the application of population health to nursing practice. By integrating principles of epidemiology and public health, students will examine determinants of health and evaluate how health outcomes are distributed across populations. Students will explore collaborative partnerships, information systems, policies, and methodologies to promote equitable population health outcomes. Students will reflect on strengths as nurse leaders to lead evidence-based change in population health.
