Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner: Clinical III
University of Pennsylvania · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
At the conclusion of this final clinical course, students are expected to demonstrate the competence of a novice pediatric acute care nurse practitioner. Building on prior experiences, students assume increasing autonomy in patient care, clinical decision-making, and professional responsibilities. Through immersive clinical practice, simulations, self-reflection and self-evaluation, and integrative projects, students refine their skills in assessment, diagnostic reasoning, clinical judgment, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Students will develop and deliver evidence-based content across multiple modalities to diverse audiences, demonstrating their ability to translate knowledge into practice. By course completion, students are prepared to independently manage the care of infants and children with acute, critical and complex chronic conditions and their families within the scope of a novice pediatric acute care nurse practitioner.
