Catalog description

The purpose of this third course in a 3-course series is to build knowledge, skills, and attitudes related to the assessment, diagnosis and management of common diseases in medically complex adults. The epidemiology, patient presentation, differential diagnoses, diagnostic evaluation, and evidence-based management of these diseases will be presented by content experts. Concepts introduced earlier in the disease management curriculum will be reinforced to ensure students build on their diagnostic reasoning and clinical decision-making skills. Students are able to integrate knowledge for complex patient scenarios, including care of medically and socially vulnerable patients, through case-based application and faculty-led group work. At the end of the course, students will be able to apply knowledge of acute and medically complex illnesses with diagnostic reasoning and critical thinking in patient centered assessment, diagnosis, and management.
