Scientific Inquiry and Evidence-Based Practice for Advanced Nursing Practice

Catalog description
This course is designed to provide nurses with foundational knowledge and skills for an advanced practice role that supports research appraisal and synthesis of evidence to inform clinical practice. Students will examine methods of scientific inquiry and analytical techniques and critically appraise quantitative and qualitative research, evaluating the scientific merit and clinical significance of research for translation into practice. Students will engage in a variety of creative learning experiences to facilitate clinical reasoning and scientific inquiry to address important problems that require solutions. This course serves as the basis of scientific inquiry to expand nursing knowledge and integrate evidence into advanced nursing practice. By the end of this course, students will be able to formulate a clinical question, conduct a literature search, critically appraise quantitative and qualitative research, and appraise evidence-based guidelines for translation into clinical practice.
