Prioritizing Population Health in Advanced Nursing Practice

This course equips advanced nursing practice students with the knowledge and skills to lead population health initiatives that promote equity and resilience across diverse communities. As a core component of the advanced nursing practice curriculum, the course prepares students to apply public health principles and data-driven strategies in both everyday practice and emergency scenarios. Students will explore and synthesize social drivers of population health, epidemiological trends, and community health priorities through case studies, data analysis, and policy evaluation. Active learning strategies—including collaborative projects, scenario-based simulations, and interdisciplinary discussions—will facilitate integration of scientific, ethical, and economic perspectives into real-world decision-making. By the end of the course, students will be prepared to translate complex population health data into actionable strategies; advocate for health equity across systems; and respond effectively to public health threats at local, national, and global levels. This course empowers students to be influential voices in shaping policies and practices that safeguard community well-being.
