Adult Gerontology Acute Care NP: Professional Role and Clinical Practicum I

Catalog description

In this course, students explore issues relevant to the role of the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner within the multiple layers of the American Health Care System. The development of advanced clinical competencies and clinical decision-making abilities will be emphasized. Strategies to maintain continuity in the patient’s psychosocial support system and nursing and medical management in the face of a fragmented health care system will be discussed. Reimbursement issues, role development, and nursing interventions will be introduced and discussed in the classroom, and principles will be applied in the clinical practicum.
