Advanced Practice Skills for the Primary Care NP

Catalog description

This advanced nursing practice course prepares nurse practitioner students in primary care programs for clinical readiness and serves as a foundational precursor to clinical management courses. Emphasis is placed on the integration of advanced assessment techniques and the interpretation of data in the care of patients across the lifespan. Faculty will utilize case-based learning, interactive simulation, and evidence-based discussions to build students’ clinical judgment and diagnostic reasoning. Through collaborative projects and reflective exercises, instructors will guide students in examining ethical, cultural, and socially just care approaches using advanced technologies. Students will gain the knowledge and skills needed to engage with interdisciplinary care teams, advocate for vulnerable populations, and provide individualized, person- and family-centered care that enhances outcomes across the lifespan. This course empowers students to become competent, confident, and compassionate providers in primary care clinical settings when preparing to apply or employ diagnostic and/or therapeutic technologies.
