Catalog description

Through online coursework and mentored field experiences, students explore the impact of national and state policies on access to and delivery of equitable healthcare services across the care continuum. Mechanisms used by various healthcare organizations for identifying and addressing the care needs of target populations are examined including community outreach. Aggregate clinical and administrative data are reviewed to identify trends and inform planning to improve population health outcomes. Based on diverse sources of scientific evidence and stakeholder input, students recommend approaches to address care delivery gaps and advocate for related changes in healthcare reimbursement policies. Furthermore, students examine methods for leveraging the innovative use of health information technologies to improve access to coordinated healthcare services.
