Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner: Theory II

Catalog description

The purpose of this second course in a 3-course series is to build knowledge, skills, and attitudes related to the assessment, diagnosis and management of common diseases among medically complex adults. This course emphasizes mental and physical health problems and administrative issues pertaining to frail adults residing in the community and long-term care settings. Content reflects knowledge and skill necessary to manage complex chronic health problems and acute illnesses experienced by frail adults. Case-based learning supports competency building in effective communication, critical thinking and problem solving that support development of critical leadership skills to manage care. Students are able to appreciate the current and projected role of the adult gerontology primary care nurse practitioner in the community and long-term care system as well as its relationship to improving quality and safety for these individuals and population health.
