This first clinical practicum introduces family nurse practitioner students to family-centered primary care across the lifespan. Through 250 supervised clinical hours and structured seminars, students build foundational skills in health assessment, growth and development monitoring, differential diagnosis, and evidence-based management of common acute and chronic conditions. Emphasis is placed on preventive care, health promotion, and anticipatory guidance for diverse populations. Students begin applying culturally responsive care, ethical decision-making, and interdisciplinary collaboration through documentation, site visits, and evaluations. Seminars reinforce clinical reasoning, prescribing principles, and professional communication through case discussions and application exercises. By the end of the course, students will have the foundational knowledge to integrate clinical guidelines, initiate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions, and advocate for patients within complex systems while demonstrating leadership and professionalism.
