Catalog description

This course explores how psychological, behavioral, cognitive, social, and physical development influences the lived experiences of individuals, families, and communities across the lifespan. Students examine the relationship of the social determinants of health on health outcomes. Students develop skills in behavioral risk screening, motivational interviewing, therapeutic communication, and culturally informed care to address behavioral and psychosocial factors influencing health outcomes. An emphasis is placed on self-care practices for the professional nurse to build resilience and foster compassionate care.
