Bringing together media studies, literary analysis, and cultural history, this course investigates. This interdisciplinary course examines ways in which Iranian identity has been fashioned and refashioned from the ancient pre-Islamic to the modern post-revolutionary period. It traces the historical and literary narratives and texts that have shaped Iranian identity, history, and politics. By reading across genres and examining Iran’s encounters with the global community, students gain a nuanced understanding of complex narratives and perspectives that constitute modern Iranian life.
