Statistical Foundations: No-Code Data Storytelling

This course examines how quantitative evidence is interpreted, visualized, written about, and communicated in educational and social science contexts. Graduate students often need to produce research papers, policy briefs, and institutional reports using quantitative data, yet face challenges in creating and interpreting high-quality tables, figures, and narratives. This course emphasizes translating statistical output into clear, accurate, and responsible visual and written representations for diverse audiences. Statistical models and analytic procedures are introduced and critiqued to support interpretation and communication. The course teaches statistical methods as tools for storytelling hence does not replace introductory quantitative methods coursework. Students will work with an easy-to-use, no-code software tool to produce publication- and report-ready tables, figures, and written summaries, with attention to uncertainty, limitations, and the alignment between quantitative evidence and substantive claims.
