Most teachers have ambitious goals for their classrooms. They strive to make their classrooms spaces where students engage in authentic and meaningful work, where students collaborate on challenging and complex tasks, and where students develop deep disciplinary knowledge and the skills and mindsets that are necessary for their success in college, career, and society. However, many classrooms fall short of this ambitious vision.
