Catalog description
The course will explore the foundational themes in behavioral, social, and cognitive areas of psychology as they relate to education. The course focuses on the study of educational psychology with a special emphasis on the multiple contexts that influence student development and learning and how aspects of the classroom environment impact student success. This course is designed both to build an understanding of basic foundations of child development and provide opportunity to apply this understanding to real-world settings. Throughout the course, students are encouraged to critically reflect on and continually develop teaching practice. Course readings, discussions, and assignments will offer opportunities to interrogate the link between theories of child development and sound instructional practice.
