Catalog description

This module explores the opportunities and challenges of transitioning to increasing senior leadership in higher education. Drawing from key concepts in other course work including leadership theory, change management, and governance as well as strategic decision making, and team dynamics, this course focuses on individual leadership identity to help students better understand their personal goals and values in the context of institutional leadership. It prepares students to formulate evidence-based approaches to future professional objectives. Students will be able to: • Critically evaluate professional goals in the context of leader identity, professional ethos, and available career and academic pathways • Identify critical issues during professional transitions and outline deliberate change strategy to facilitate successful tenure • Distinguish their role as leader, follower, and team member and frame solutions to support leadership and organizational success • Identify resources and practices that support ongoing professional and scholarly development
