Our goal is to study how narratives in fiction but also non-fiction do not simply present these emotions but create them in audiences. The course will target a wide range of emotions, some common, some uncommon. We will study the narrative devices employed, consider cultural context, and discuss emotion theory in both the humanities and psychology.
