Principles and Engineering of Cell Signaling
University of Pennsylvania · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
This course discusses the principles of cell signaling and how these principles can be harnessed to engineer novel protein and cellular functions. We start from a molecular description of cell signaling components and build towards understanding how their interactions govern cell and tissue behavior both in health and disease. Discussions integrate how systems and synthetic biology can harness molecular principles of signaling for a variety of fundamental, biomedical, and biotechnological aims. Critical reading of current literature reinforces and expands on lecture topics. Open to graduate students or undergraduates with senior standing by permission of instructor.
