Architecture and Design for Health: Creating places, products, and experiences for people: In this course, you will examine how design and architecture shape everyday environments by grounding inquiry in our shared human experience of the built world. Emphasizing design as an active and non-neutral practice, you will explore how spaces, objects, and systems impact bodies, influence behavior, and shape well-being. The course draws on readings, conversation, collaborative activities, and guest speakers to engage contemporary perspectives, with an emphasis on learning through application rather than discussion alone. You will apply these ideas through in-class exercises and more developed design investigations that explore how design choices shape everyday life. You will also have the opportunity to develop project work in ways that align with your learning interests and professional goals. This course foregrounds interdisciplinary exchange. Past students have come from Architecture, Integrated Product Design, Landscape Architecture, Business, Nursing, and more. Students from a wide range of disciplines are encouraged to enroll.
