Topics that will be explored include the legal nature of the employment relationship, worker classification, employment at-will and its limitations, wage and hour laws, certain employee benefits, employee privacy, noncompetition agreements, the protection of trade secrets, and administrative agency process for bringing employment-related cases. Labor law and employment discrimination, while important areas of the law, will not be covered more than cursorily in this seminar. Each student will: 1. Present their seminar paper topic to the class. This course satisfies the upper-level writing seminar requirement.
