Catalog description

A survey of German film from its beginnings to the present, with emphasis on historical, political, and cultural contexts. The course also equips students with the basic tools of film criticism and engages salient questions related to visual cultures, past and present, to develop skills for critical spectatorship in a world dominated by images.
