Catalog description

This is the study of the basic principles of ecology, emphasizing population, community and ecosystem ecology. The focus will rely on a variety of approaches to learn about ecology and the way ecologists study natural systems. Lecture will emphasize general principles and models that underlie this theory. Specific case studies will be drawn from real-world examples taken 41 from the scientific literature. The laboratories will offer opportunities to examine natural systems, and to collect, analyze and interpret data. Oral presentations and assessments will further help develop students' communication skills. Prerequisites: LIB142 Physics: The World Around You.
