Prerequisite: CHEM 002A or CHEM 022 or CHEM 001A, or equivalent skills as demonstrated through placement based on the chemistry assessment process. Recommended Preparation: BIOL 003 or BIOL 011. Structure and function of bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoa and algae. Elements of microbial physiology, genetics, control and nutrition; epidemiology; immunology and allergy. Survey of microbial infections. Aseptic techniques. Total of 54 hours lecture and 72 hours laboratory. Transfer Credit: CSU; UC Grade Mode: L, P
