Catalog description
This course introduces students to the foundations, structure, and functions of both the United States federal and California state governments. Students will explore key principles such as constitutional law, separation of powers, and checks and balances while examining how public policy is created and implemented. Emphasis is placed on civic engagement, individual rights and responsibilities, and understanding the political processes that shape government at the local, state, and national levels. Total 36 to 100 hours lecture.
