Catalog description

One of two courses in the VESL Health Care certificate program. Development of vocabulary, listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills of ESL students interested in health care careers. Emphasis on occupation-specific terminology and communication skills for interacting in a health care environment. Topics covered in Module B include exploring health careers, effective communication in health settings, standard precautions, vital signs, nutrition, and emergencies/first aid. Recommended for high intermediate to advanced ESL students (ESLN Level 4, 5 or higher). Total of 108 hours lecture.
