Catalog description

One of two courses in the VESL Child Care Provider certificate program. Development of vocabulary, listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills of ESL students interested in careers in child care, child development, or early childhood education. Emphasis on occupation-specific terminology and communication skills for interacting with children, families, and co-workers. Topics in Module A include child care and child development vocabulary, effective communication in child care settings, health and safety in home and center-based programs, anti-bias education principals, and using children's books, games, and songs effectively. Recommended for low intermediate to advanced ESL students (ESLN Level 3, 4, 5 or higher). Total of 72 hours lecture.
