Catalog description
This course provides students with the knowledge and hands-on skills to close in and finish residential and light commercial structures. Topics include installation of roofing systems, building envelope and control layers, windows and exterior doors, and exterior wall finishes. Students learn to apply thermal and sound insulation, finish interior walls and ceilings, install a variety of flooring systems, and complete interior doors and trim. Emphasis is placed on proper material selection, accurate measurement, safe use of tools, and application of industry-standard techniques to produce durable, code-compliant, and visually appealing finishes. Coursework integrates reading of construction documents, adherence to building codes, and application of critical thinking to solve real-world construction challenges. Total of 135 hours of laboratory.
