Catalog description
This hands-on lab course provides practical training in construction documentation, site layout, and structural framing methods used in residential and commercial building projects. Students will learn to interpret plans and specifications, apply building code requirements, and translate drawings into accurate site layouts. Through supervised lab activities, students will construct footings, foundations, floor, wall, ceiling, and roof framing; install stair systems; and work with both wood and light-gauge steel framing. Emphasis is placed on accuracy, safety, teamwork, and adherence to industry standards in preparation for apprenticeship-level work in the carpentry and construction trades. Total of 135 hours laboratory.
