Catalog description
This course introduces foundational principles of asana alignment, cueing, and sequencing for the design of accessible and adaptable yoga classes. Instruction includes online learning and in-person laboratory practice. Students will examine techniques and intended outcomes of pranayama and meditation as they relate to physical, mental, and energetic well-being. Key anatomical structures and the musculoskeletal, nervous, and respiratory systems are reviewed to inform safe and effective teaching practices. The course also offers an overview of current yoga research and its applications, as well as an introduction to core yogic philosophies, including the Yoga Sutras, to support class theming, personal practice, and student-centered instruction.
