Catalog description

This course focuses on the psychological dimensions inherent in coaching athletes and sports teams. This course equips students with a foundational understanding of the psychological mechanisms influencing athletic performance. Students will examine the role of sport coaching vs. sport psychology, the psychology of athlete’s needs & ability, and understand how to positively influence the coach-athlete relationship. Students will also apply motor control theory towards coaching a specific athletic skill and enhance athlete motivation. Prerequisite: PSYC2301 General Psychology
