Catalog description
The study of basic concepts and terminology associated with medication structure, function, interaction, and administration. Emphasis is placed on the mechanism of drug action, uses, adverse effects, contraindications, and clinically important drug interactions. Students will review case scenarios to identify diseases associated with medications. Students will also identify medications prescribed for certain diseases. Prerequisite course: The designated course must be taken prior to any other HIM major courses. Prerequisite: HPRS 2336 Pathophysiology for Health Information Management
