Catalog description

The purpose of this course is to increase the student's knowledge and understanding of human physiology and the adaptations that occur during exercise. Emphasis is on bioenergetics as well as circulatory, respiratory, and neuromuscular responses to the physical stress of exercise. The lab component will include neural control during physical activity, skeletal muscle contraction, pulmonary and circulatory physiology, gas exchange and transport, aerobic and anaerobic energy sources for muscular activity, and temperature regulation during exercise. Pre-requisite: BIOL 2401 Anatomy and Physiology I, and BIOL 2402 Anatomy and Physiology II
