Catalog description

This course is the second in a series of five to develop students’ clinical reasoning skills pertaining to the utilization and interpretation of diagnostic imaging studies. This course focuses on the recognition and understanding of imaging of the appendicular skeleton and abdomen. This includes normal anatomy, normal imaging, roentgenometrics assessment, congenital anomalies, normal variants, osseous trauma, avascular necrosis, skeletal dysplasias and degenerative changes. Although conventional radiographic imaging will be the main imaging modality studied, computerized tomography and magnetic resonance imaging will also be discussed. Additionally, basic principles to film interpretation and report writing will be covered.Prerequisite(s): Fundamentals of Diagnostic Imaging, Developmental and Applied Anatomy
