PROFESSIONAL PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE

Catalog description

This is an intensive four-week (150 hrs.) preceptor-guided experience in the administrative aspects of health information management services of an accredited hospital, healthcare system, or alternative healthcare facility. A management project and visits with users of health information (finance, decision support, registries, etc.) are an integral component of this externship experience. A PowerPoint online presentation highlighting the experience is required at the conclusion of the professional management experience. Prerequisite: BHIM 3466 Health Information Management Practicum
