Human Diversity and Social Justice

Catalog description

This course provides a foundation of knowledge to better understand how diversity and difference shape the human experience and are critical to the formation of identity. The dimensions of diversity and their intersectionality across multiple factors; including but not limited to age, ability, culture, ethnicity, race, political ideology, class, religion/spirituality, gender and sexual expression, immigration status, marital status, and tribal sovereign status, are examined. Consequently, how these differences associate to oppressive practices is examined and various international and multicultural strategies to advance human rights and social, economic, and environmental justice are explored.
