Forensic Psychology

Catalog description

This course introduces students to the field of forensic psychology, exploring its history, applications, and the diverse roles of forensic psychologists within the justice system. Students will examine how psychology intersects with law enforcement and investigations, and how forensic psychology informs court processes, including issues of competency, insanity, and syndrome evidence. Additional topics include children’s issues, eyewitness testimony, and the role of psychologists as trial consultants. By the end of the course, students will develop a foundational understanding of how psychological science contributes to legal decision-making and the administration of justice.
