Catalog description

The healthcare industry emphasizes the utilization of evidence to support operational and clinical decision-making when appropriate and feasible. To this end, this course seeks to empower students by giving them the knowledge and ability to follow the research process as a means of making well-informed decisions. The course topics will include problem identification and research question and hypothesis development, literature review, use of theory in research, research design and methodology, hypothesis testing, interpretation of results, and addressing ethical issues in research. This course will also provide tangible examples of how research supports managerial decision-making as in the case of program design and evaluation and quality management. Fulfills: 4+1
