Catalog description

This course is designed to enhance the nursing student's leadership skills and help them transition into the role of the nurse upon graduation and becoming licensed. Upon completion of the course, students will understand how nursing has evolved as a profession and what opportunities they have to advance in a career in nursing or nursing education. The course will provide the student with the knowledge of barriers that exist to professionalism in nursing and how to overcome those barriers. Skills involved in interprofessional collaboration as well as legal and ethical issues that nurses may face in nursing will be discussed. The course will assist students with ways to develop clinical judgement while collaborating and communicating with the healthcare team so that the graduate nurse can provide the patient with the best evidence-based, patient-centered care possible. This course is a course only included in the Associate Degree in Nursing (RN) Program.
