Catalog description

This course will apply the knowledge of therapeutic drugs, their effects on the body, and impact on oral and overall health. The course will provide instruction on herbals, ethnic remedies, supplements and other non-pharmacological interventions used by patients. Critical thinking skills necessary to assess the need for and response to medications will be addressed. Case studies will be used to increase the student’s understanding of major drug groups, the pharmacologic effects, adverse reactions and interactions that influence a patient’s drug therapy relative to their oral health care.
