Catalog description
Continuing in this series, in this integrated course, students learn the fundamentals of preparing teeth for crowns, the steps involved in their fabrication, and the principles of removable partial denture design (RPD) for partially edentulous patient situations. Content will be presented independently during the fall and part of the spring semesters, and then become integrated into comprehensive tooth replacement in the latter part of the spring into the summer semester. Students will also become familiar with the basic principles of immediate dentures and the procedures for the fabrication of an immediate denture (ICD). Topics will include treatment planning, laboratory steps for the fabrication of the ICD, surgical procedures, post-insertion care, and complications.
