Gross Anatomy

Gross Anatomy and Basic Neuroanatomy is a lecture and laboratory course that integrates interprofessional education opportunities for Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) students with Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine students (DO). The overall course for DMD students is divided into two units: Introduction and Head and Neck. Basic neuroanatomy will be integrated throughout the course, with a special emphasis during the head and neck units of the course. lectures on embryology and fundamental radiological anatomy related to the area under study will also be presented during the course. The purpose of this course is to provide the student with a solid knowledge base in gross, neurologic, and radiologic anatomy that is essential for preparing individuals to learn and understand the basis for clinical diagnosis and treatment practices that are imperative for becoming an effective dentist.
