Catalog description
The goal of this course is to provide an opportunity for students to expand their knowledge and skills in medical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. The requirements of the course can be met in various clinical specialties and settings if the rotation provides students with the ability to fulfill the learning objectives. Some specialties will typically meet the requirements of this course, including General Inpatient Medicine, as well as the following Adult and Pediatric subspecialties: Cardiology, Critical Care/ ICU, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Geriatrics, Hematology/Oncology, Infectious Disease, Nephrology, Pulmonology, and Rheumatology. Other specialties may also meet the requirements of this course if the preceptor’s practice allows for students to routinely have the experiences listed below while in the rotation. Allowance for specialties and combined experiences not listed above will need approval from the student’s assigned Assistant Dean for Clinical Education.
