Catalog description
This course, building on Scientific Foundations of Medicine content, will explore the pathophysiology mechanisms and processes underlying human diseases and treatment. Understanding the interrelationships of organ system functioning on systemic and oral health will be emphasized. Leading causes as well as risk factors of mortality and disability including heart disease, cancer, stroke (cerebrovascular disease), chronic lower respiratory disease, Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, nephrotic disease, arthritic disorders, mental health disorders, and liver disease will be discussed in detail. Admittance to MBS program or permission of the MBS director is required.
