Catalog description

This course will provide an overview of the practice settings, economic operations, governmental regulations, and provider roles associated with the delivery of patient care within the US healthcare system. This course will also acquaint the student with the interprofessional (IP) nature of practice and methodology basic to the practices of health professionals. Experiential and applied learning via standardized patients (SPs) and simulations (SIMs) will reinforce instruction on how to interview and communicate with patients, take a history, perform a physical examination/evaluation, and check patient vital signs. Admittance to MBS program or permission of the MBS Director is required.
