Catalog description

This course is an introduction to the scientific study of human behavior in groups, the social forces that shape society, and the social construction of reality. Special attention is given to the application of sociological ideas and analysis. Topics include but are not limited to research methods, major sociological theory; culture, socialization; group dynamics and interaction, deviance and crime; social stratification; race, ethnicity, and gender; the family; social institutions; population and environment; and social change.
