Catalog description

An introductory study that examines the development of literary forms in their historical and cultural contexts. With a diverse selection of poems, short stories, plays, and novels, students will be introduced to the literary tradition while tasking themselves with actively constructing meaning behind the text. Students will be introduced to methods of critical reading and writing about literature, emphasizing cultural and historical understanding.
