Catalog description

A study of the major themes and social-historical context of Cervantes' masterpiece with a broad consideration of the human experience from the middle ages to present day. The course is an interdisciplinary approach that includes topics ranging from knights, religious conflicts, racism, economics and politics to classical literature, Joseph Campbell, soap operas, sitcoms, Star Wars, Velazquez, Magritte and Woody Allen. Recommended: SPAN 101 and SPAN 103 with a "C-" or better. Not recommended for freshmen. ( GE2A , GELN )
