Students examine the ethical theories, principles, and concepts that justify decisions in health care and medical science. Topics covered may include: physician-assisted suicide, termination or refusal of life-sustaining treatment, abortion, reproductive technologies such as cloning, in vitro fertilization, and surrogacy, the allocation of scarce medical resources (including transplant organs) genetic manipulation, and experimentation on humans and animals.
